Who is Ardis Mayo?
“My mission is to help you live your best life, no matter what challenges you may face by providing resources and support for mind, body, and spirit. I believe that soulcare is essential for living a full and happy life, and I’m here to help you achieve that.”
I’m Ardis Mayo—soul care advocate, author, and guide for those navigating the challenges and transitions of aging.
Through my writing, courses, journals, and reflections, I hope to encourage older adults to live full, meaningful lives rooted in purpose, creativity, and spiritual growth. Drawing from my lifetime experience with MS, careers in nursing and ministry, and my own journey through aging, I’ve learned that even life’s hardest seasons can become places of reflection, resilience, and grace.
With studies in psychology, theology, and nursing, I now dedicate my work to writing and creating resources that help people discover their own strength, wisdom, and story. My blog shares parts of my ongoing journey of self-discovery, and my courses, journals, and books are designed to offer encouragement, spiritual practices, and gentle support along the way.
What inspired me to become an Author?
As a child, I read a book about a missionary surgeon who helped people whose hands were deformed by leprosy. I found myself inspired, but I was unsure which I wanted to be—the doctor or the person who wrote the book.
By the time I got to college, I knew medicine would not be my path, and the idea of writing got buried in all the other interests I could pursue at that age–including marriage and family.
A few decades later I found myself retired and unable to shake the memory of the book with the orange cover I had read so many years ago.
Could I write a book like that? Why not?
I picked up a pen, and opened my heart to inspiration from the universe, and the rest is history.
Dekker
Dekker is my world-class service dog, trained at NEADS in Massachusetts. He spends his days helping me with more than 40 learned skills, faithfully assisting me in everyday life.
But recently, we discovered another hidden talent—dispensing advice.
Dekker now “writes” a monthly advice post, sharing a little wisdom, encouragement, and humor along the way.
If you’re in a season of slowing down, showing up for someone else,
or wondering how to make meaning of it all—you’re not alone…
Because reflection isn’t a retreat, it’s a return to what matters.
